My Experience at Nobull (Part 1)

My two-week work placement with Nobull Communications has sadly come to an end and I'm very sad to say goodbye to the entire team. Since day one, they have all been extremely welcoming and a joy to work with. I have learnt so much during my time there and were really able to get stuck into all aspects of the agency. (Please keep posted for tomorrow's post on my recommendations of Nobull and why I think they're such a great agency to work with!)

Firstly, one of my last tasks for the Nobull team was to create a blog post for their social media website; Sociabull. All members of the team have been saying all week that they want to chain me to the desk so I can't leave them (haha). I don't want to leave either guys and I hope to see you all again soon! Working with you was an absolute pleasure.

My blog post on my time at Nobull as well as my insight into the current social media landscape is outlined below and can also be found at; http://www.sociabull.co.uk/index.php?id=88&p=&search=

Hiya everyone! My name’s Erica, I’m from Uxbridge and I’m currently on a two-week work experience placement with Nobull Communications. I’m currently studying Public Relations and Marketing Communications at Bucks New University in High Wycombe. In my spare time, I love shopping and travelling the world. I’ve recently been fortunate enough to visit New York, Mexico, the Philippines, Dubai and Greece.

I am extremely passionate about working in the PR industry so when my senior lecturer Dr. Bill Nichols mentioned the opportunity of a work placement with Nobull on LinkedIn, I jumped at the chance. I then sent over my CV, covering letter and details over to office manager, Sophie on Thursday and began my work placement the following Monday! I love meeting new people so I was really excited to start. My first couple of days at the office have been very busy – catching up on important tasks after the Easter period. All members of the team have made me feel really welcome and the office atmosphere is great.

My favourite aspect of PR is writing. Throughout school and college I have always loved English Language as a subject and creative writing so when the Nobull team asked me to create press releases, social media posts and presentation content, I was over the moon. A few examples of work I have done so far include potential campaign ideas, draft press releases for Chernos and FaceB4, social media content for ColourB4, contact details for bloggers, travel and automotive clients and more.

Always online, I find it difficult to not check my Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and e-mails on a daily basis. I like to think of it as a good thing... I can keep up-to-date with business trends, recent news topics, client and competitors’ activity etc. Facebook is definitely starting to lose its social media crown to Twitter in recent months (which is growing by the second with over 100 million active users), leaving us all wondering how the future of social media stands. Since the launch of new social platforms Twitter, Pinterest, Tumblr and more, Facebook has become quite stale. Personally, I am more Team Twitter than Team Facebook (so much so, I have two accounts!) Although Facebook is always great to have on hand to keep in touch with friends, family and colleagues, add pictures and videos and write as much content as you wish, as opposed to Twitter’s 140 characters.

Nobull’s lively environment has been greater than others I have worked in previously. I was able to get stuck into the business straight from the word go and really get involved with daily tasks to help make a difference for the agency. Since day one it has been very clear that the business prides itself on their talented and friendly team, its drive to achieve the best results possible, creativity and expertise in communications.

I am always willing to learn new things and I’m so grateful for the whole team for allowing me to work across numerous aspects within the business. I’m very appreciative that I was given the opportunity to work with Nobull in order to expand my experience within the PR field – I’ve got one more thing to add onto my CV and have really expanded my knowledge for help in my future career. Thank you for having me Nobull!

Examples of the work, press releases, market research and more can be found on my "Personal Portfolio" page at the top of my website!
